Slags
Rich talks to author and screenwriter Emma Jane Unsworth about her newest novel, Slags, a tale of teenagers, sisters and secrets. They chat about writing about the 1990s and the changes in sexual mores and social media judgement that made our lives both harder and easier, writing about serious subjects in a very funny book, using teenage diaries and poetry for inspiration, using real-life details in fiction, why Emma went for this bold title and how doing an MA in Creative Writing helped her at the start of her career. Also her dad's resolution not to use the portaloos at the Also Festival and Emma's forthcoming appearance there and what age constitutes middle-age (I don't think Rich can pretend any longer - or might be beyond it).
